SAN DIEGO - LifeProof, an official sponsor of X Games Minneapolis, congratulates Jarryd McNeil on his gold medal finish in LifeProof Moto X Step Up at U.S. Bank Stadium.

McNeil reached a maximum height of 44 feet, easily topping last year’s winning height of 33 feet. It was the second highest winning height in the history of Moto X Step Up at X Games.

McNeil took gold at X Games Austin 2016 in his inaugural turn at the event. This is his eighth X Games medal and fourth gold medal.

Step Up is a motorcycle jump competition to reach the highest maximum height. Competitors must clear a bar and land the jump, hitting the backside of the ramp with more than 1,400 pounds of force. McNeil passed each competitor’s height and accomplished his winning run on his first attempt.

McNeil is also the two-time reigning gold medalist in Moto X Best Whip. Other LifeProof athletes competing later this weekend include Tom Schaar and Lizzie Armanto.

Gary Young finished eighth in the Toyota BMX Park event.
